The World Needs
Teachers

As associate professor and acting chair of Political Science and coordinator on the Peace and Conflict Studies program, Dr. Marc Simone challenges students to consider global questions and answers. An important part of his work involves working with BGSU student delegates to the Model United nations program where students travel to New York to be representatives of assigned countries in a role-playing simulation with the same structures, committees and topics that the real United Nations manages. Students learn about diplomacy, negotiation, conflict resolution and how to get large groups of people with very diverse interests to actually agree on a course of action.

The world of our students expands far beyond the borders of the region. It is imperative that they gain the knowledge, confidence and perspective needed to compete and lead in a global society.
